# Set up Email Marketing

This page gets a sending domain verified. It does not write a campaign. When the domain can send, follow [Draft a campaign](https://www.saasco.com/docs/email-marketing/campaign.md).

## 1. Use the Saasco MCP

If Saasco is not connected, read https://www.saasco.com/docs/mcp.mdx and follow the steps for this client. Sign in, allowing "Create and change data in your projects". Search with `saasco_search_tools`, then run the tool with `saasco_execute_tool`.

Pass project id `YOUR-PROJECT-ID` on every project tool. On a connection scoped with `?projectId=`, omit `projectId`. Live and test are different projects. Write to the id you were given. If a write tool is missing, re-authorize.

## 2. Create the sending domain

Ask for the hostname they will send from, such as `mail.example.com` or `example.com`, and which company hosts its DNS.

Call `domains_listDomains`. If that hostname is already on the project, use its id. If not, call `domains_createDomain` and use the id it returns. Creating a domain does not turn sending on. Call `domains_activateEmailSending` with that `domainId`. That registers the domain. It does not verify it.

## 3. Add the DNS records

Call `domains_getDomain` with that `domainId`. The rows to add are `emailConfig.records`: `name`, `type`, `value`, `priority`, and `ttl`. Follow [Add DNS records](https://www.saasco.com/docs/domains/dns.md) for the host they named. Wait until they say the records are saved.

## 4. Verify

Call `domains_verifyEmailDNS` once. If it is still pending, say so and stop. Do not poll.

Do not send a campaign. Do not call `emailMarketing_sendCampaign` or `emailMarketing_sendTestEmail`.
