# Update Clean Settings

PUT /api/v2/projects/{projectId}/crm/clean/settings

Replaces the project's list-hygiene settings. Unlike most update endpoints here, `settings` is written whole rather than merged, so send the complete object. Enabling automatic validation applies to contacts created from then on; it does not retroactively validate existing ones.

## Request

- projectId: string, path, required — ID of the project whose clean settings to write.
- settings: object, required — The complete settings object. Written as-is, replacing what is stored.
  - autoValidateNewContacts: boolean, required — Validate the email address of every new contact as it is created. Validation is billed per contact, so this trades spend for list quality.
